1 .Eavesdrop

People say the wackiest things. You can do this type of journaling any time or place, but when you are travelling you around different people in strange circumstances. Pay attention to the people around you, they may say something memorable, humorous or bizarre that you’d want to record.

2. Experiences

Hopefully when you travel, you get a heavy dose of unforgettable experiences. Write them down! What may seem so fresh in your memory today will fade away tomorrow. If you record it then you revisit the memories whenever you so choose.

3.Surroundings

Learning to write about the physical description of people, things, places, art, buildings, clothing and everything around you is a great writing exercise. Plus, it’ll help you recollect small details of places that you visit.

4. Conversations

Random chit chat becomes an adventure when you are travelling. You are immersed into a whole new set of people that will expand your horizons in unimaginable ways. Perhaps you want to recollect some of what you talked to these people about.

5. Introspection

Travel gives us a respite that allows from some inner self reflection. Take advantage to evaluate who you are, so that when you come back to the real world you can have an invigorated sense of being.

6. Poems

Even if you don’t write poetry, given the time on vacation you may want to take a crack at it for kicks. A silly limerick, a haiku, stream of consciousness, sonnet- any genre works!

7.Food

Depending on where you are travelling, food and drink can be an integral part of the experience. Write about the tastes, dishes, smells, etc. Perhaps you may even find a dish you want to try replicating at home.

8. General Observations

Just take a look at how the people are acting around you. People watching is a great way to get inspiration on what to write about. It can give you some insight into you compare and contrast from your everyday at home observations of people.

9.Your Dreams

When is the last time you sat down and thought about what you want out of life. Travel and vacation give you time to reflect on how you may want to direct your actions to further your journey in this life.

10.What You Are Looking For 

Is there are something you are looking for via this trip? Do you know? Have you found it? Reflect on this question in your journal.
