6 Ways To Repair A Tablet Screen

Posted by Holly Williford on 19th Feb 2015

Scratches on a tablet screen are infuriating! It messes with the function and aesthetic of the screen making it difficult to use. Do not run out and buy a new screen or tablet yet! There are some ways to fix minor nicks and scratches on tablet screens that are inexpensive. Here are a couple of DIY methods to fix those pesky scratches.

1.Prevention

It may be a little too late to mention this, but for future reference, storing a tablet in a bag is a great way to protect it from most accidents. When not in use you can store it in one of our leather bags, like The Richmond Slim Line Traveler IPAD Bag. Okay, enough motherly scolding, we’ll get into discussing how you can repair the scratches you already have on your tablet.

2.Toothpaste

Just like on CDs, DVDs, etc.- toothpaste can also help to repair any scratches on a tablet screen. Just add a tiny bit of toothpaste onto your finger or a q-tip then dab it on the affected in area in a circular motion. Afterwards, using a slightly damp cloth wipe down the entire screen to completely remove the toothpaste.

3.Fine Sand Paper

First off, this can’t be done with just some regular old sand paper and elbow grease, you need special supplies. For those of you who love to acquire tools, we know you don’t mind hearing that! First off you’ll need super fine sandpaper. You’ll also need a sanding drill along with an attachment that will fit the fine sand paper.

4.Swirl Remover

Swirl Remover is an oil-based product that is designed to take off scratches from surfaces. But, if a screen has an oleophobic coating, do NOT use any type of polish to try to fix the scratch. If you decide to try this method, seal the ports and buttons of the pone with tape to make sure the Swirl Remover doesn’t get inside of the phone.

5.Baking Soda

Baking soda has many magical uses, and you can add this on as another one. Make a thick paste out of baking soda and water by mixing two parts baking soda to one part water. Put a small amount of the paste on a microfiber cloth then gently wiped on the damaged part of the screen. Use a clean part of cloth and some water to remove any residue of the paste.

Conclusion

Out of all these methods, we think that prevention is by far the best method. Take a gander at our selection of tablet bags to see if there is anything you would like to store your tablet in to prevent it from getting damage in the first place.
